Individuals

Whether you’re self-employed, between jobs, have no health benefits at work, or want to retire early, an Individual health care plan can protect your health, as well as your finances. Even if you’re healthy right now, you never know what the future holds. And if you wait until you become ill or injured, you may not qualify for coverage.

There are three basic types of plans:

Individual PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) health plans
No matter what doctor you choose, these plans pay a percentage of your eligible medical expenses after you meet an annual deductible. However, you’ll save the most when you use doctors or hospitals in our PPO network.

Individual HMO (Health Maintenance Organization) health plans
With these easy-to-use plans, you’ll choose a Primary Care Physician (PCP) from our HMO network and pay set copays for doctor visits. Includes prescription drug coverage and maternity benefits.

Medicare Plans

A Medicare Supplement Plan is a health benefit coverage plan that complements (or supplements) your regular Medicare coverage. 

Although Medicare pays for many health care services and supplies, it doesn’t pay for all of them. A Medicare Supplement Plan will help pay for those costs which could include deductibles, coinsurance and copayments when visiting your doctor. An Anthem Medicare Supplemental Plan is also a good idea if you prefer to keep your own doctor and hospital and choose your own specialist and other health care provider. 

Anthem’s Medicare Supplement plans are available in five standardized plan designs: A, B, F, I, J, L and SmartChoice (High Deductible F). All plans provide government-prescribed Basic Benefits. 

Provider Network

Anthem and BCBS have one of the country’s biggest provider networks. Their provider network online service allows you to search for information on health care providers. You may use this service to do many different things such as:

• Locate a provider near home, work or other locations such as a child care provider
• Determine if a specific provider participates in a particular health plan
• Create and print a personalized directory of providers meeting characteristics you choose
• Obtain a map and driving directions to a particular provider
• Learn more about a particular provider

ANTHEM BLUE CROSS TO SUPPORT MEMBERS AND COMMUNITIES IMPACTED BY SANTA BARBARA FIRES

Woodland Hills, Calif. – May 8, 2009 –  Anthem Blue Cross announced today that it is making a $10,000 donation  to the American Red Cross to bring aid to Californians in the Santa Barbara area who have been impacted by the recent fire that continues to burn and threaten homes.
