Medicare Plans

Aetna offers two basic types of plans:

Aetna Medicare Advantage (MA) plans

These plans cover the same type of services as Original Medicare (Parts A and B), and may give you additional benefits such as vision, hearing, and preventive and/or wellness coverage. Aetna also offers Medicare Advantage Plans with prescription drug coverage (MAPD) that give you all your coverage in one plan, with one monthly plan premium and one ID card.

Aetna Medicare RxSM plans

These plans offer stand-alone prescription drug coverage that can be added to your Original Medicare (Parts A and B) coverage or may be added to a Medicare Advantage HMO, PPO or PFFS plan.

Aetna's New Small-Group Plans Focus on Wellness

No co-pays charged for preventive services


LINTHICUM, Md., June 09, 2009 — Employees of small businesses in Maryland are being invited to enjoy “Wellness on Us” under a new suite of plans offered by Aetna (NYSE:  AET).


Small-group plan members in the state can now obtain preventive health care services without being charged a co-pay.  Plans are part of Aetna’s effort to encourage members to take advantage of  screenings offered under their health benefit plans.  They are the first health plans of their kind to be offered in Maryland.
